Пробовал эти конфиги:

Отвечает ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

ЧЯДНТ?

С дефолтным Гентовым конфигом всё работает сразу. Советую посмотреть в 'iptables -vL'.

В первом конфиге #PermitRootLogin yes - логин от рута не разрешен, а во втором, учитывая ошибку-какая-то проблема с ключами. Записанные в конфиге HostKey'и вообще есть?

Еще посмотри /etc/hosts.allow, /etc/hosts.deny
