Изменений достаточно много. Для Prototype стоит отметить новый DOM API, Class API, Event API.

Изменениям подвергнуты практически все компоненты:
1. Изменения в поддержке RESTful Design
2. Изменения в поддержки различных форматов, соглашения в именовании шаблонов.
3. Сериализация в xml и json, добавлена поддержка десериализации.
4. Не самые популярные компоненты (acts_as_*, адаптеры MSSql и др.) вынесены в подключаемые модули, ActionWebService покинул основной пакет.
5. ActiveResource вышел из состояния beta и включен в стандартную поставку.
6. Увеличение производительности ActiveRecord
7. Еще много изменений и улучшений
До выхода версии 2.0 будет выпущена 1.2.4 с исправлениями ошибок в текущей ветке.

Вдогонку еще напрягает: 1. То что это сцуко не может мне показать xml и приходитсо смотреть исходник 2. -||- RSS 3. Нет firebug ((, уж больно не юзабельный у них плагин для девелоперов
Почему скажете не юзаешь firefox, гад такой? Дык куда ни крути а то, что после нескольких часов его исп. он реагирует несколько секунд на нажатие кнопки - это жесть.
