Это к фоксу какая-то дрянь прицепилась?

Задрали если честно нервные вопли про "лишние" зависимости. Если есть зависимость, значит она обеспечивает какой-то функционал. Если функционал есть, а зависимость не прописана, значит это, что при умолчательной установке часть функционала будет отсутствовать - а кастрированное ПО не нужно.

В сусевском репе Avogadro лежал, у которого зависимость от openbabel не прописана. Первый раз когда поставил - смотрю, расчеты все не работают. Пришлось ковыряться, искать, а где чего не поставилось, а это время и ненужные телодвижения.

Люди знающие, просветите в таком вопросе:

Имеется бумажная книга, дефицитная весьма, 1980 года издания. Если ее переверстать, в LaTeX допустим, все иллюстрации заново в векторном формате создать, какую лицензию на нее можно будет указать? Могу я ее под GFDL/иной свободной лицензией выложить?

По крайней мере, бумажное издательство ("Металлургия") и его правопреемники уже исключаются из круга субъектов, имеющих права на такой самиздат?

Запонадобилась такая штука: строить диаграммы состояния. Например, такую:

В чем сложность: много линий, причем соединяющися между собой, на фоне координатной сетки. Какой софтиной более всего удобно будет построить такую штуку из базовых точек исходя?

Пробовал трассировать - слишком много узлов появляется, почти не поддается редактированию. Обводить тоже как-то не Ъ, хотя можно попробовать, если кто-то знает инсрумент поудобнее, чем Inkscape.

Ну и вдогонку: какая лицензия может быть на обведенное изображение? я могу эту обводку под GFDL или PD опубликовать? Картинка взята из книги советского времени издания

На компе установлена видеокарта

Соответственно, она имеет два выхода VGA (D-SUB), и DVI. К ним подключены два одинаковых монитора Samsung SyncMaster 2032MW. Иногда, чаще вскоре после начала работы, монитор, подключенный по DVI, мигает - гаснет на секунду-полторы, и снова включается, обычно так происходит дважды подряд.

От драйверов, по видимому, не зависит - проявляется и в линуксе, и в оффтопике. Думал дефект монитора - поменял их друг с другом местами, ничего не изменилось, опять мигает DVIный.

Куда копать, что смотреть? Косяк видеокарты? Добраться до нее затруднительно, комп вкручен в стойку 19", прежде чем разбирать кучу кабелей, хотелось бы услышать идеи какие-нибудь.

Какая-то новая фишка с удаленным доступом, не смотрел еще, что за зверь. Поддержки USB нету, зато есть compositing effects:

Installing openSUSE 11.1 beta 3 on Mac OS X machines should work fine.
Previous openSUSE releases would not write the partition table correctly to
the MBR, but it should now be possible to install openSUSE on Macs more
easily.

KVM is broken in this release due to a kernel configuration change before
beta 3. It should be working in the next release.

OpenOffice.org 3.0 integration continues and should be much better in this
release. The most annoying bugs with missing icons, broken dialogs, Java
registration, and others should be fixed. However, a few bugs remain, and
new ones have been reported. Current issues include:

+ KDE and GNOME integration is ignored (bnc#433076)
+ GNOME quickstarter does not work (bnc#434778)
+ localized strings are not updated from extra sources
+ optional packages are not really optional because the registry
files are not spread correctly
+ the user configuration includes symlinks to /usr/share/ooo3 instead
of that real files; it might be a feature but it might also cause
problems in the future.
+ pyuno components are still not registered
+ Suse-puzzler.xls works only partly; e.h. "Sneaky Peak" or "About"
works but the "Shuffle" does nohing. Also, pieces can't be moved by
mouse.
+ some missing hacks from ooo-build/bin/package-ooo and older OOo.spec
+ missing OOo-sdk compat stuff (to build voiko..., bnc#428403)

OpenOffice.org has been split into new packages for 11.1beta1. OpenOffice.org should be usable, but there are a number of known bugs:
Optional packages are not really optional, because the registry files are not correctly spread over the subpackages.
Java and Python components are not registered, so wizards do not work.
Dialog to change macro security level is empty (other dialogs may be affected as well).
Macro editor does not highlight lines with breakpoints.
Macro editor does not mark the line where the code is stopped (arrow).
“Help” and “From Template” dialogs do not have icons.
Wizard to select document type is not shown.
The most annoying problems should be fixed before beta2 and beta3.

Пришла мне такая идея: использовать битторрент для (частичного) зеркалирования репозиториев.

Суть в чем: собственно сервер обновлений отдает только торрент-файл с информацией о файле с описаниями пакетов. об актуальных пакетах - названиние, версия, описание, хэш. На нем же крутится трекер.

Местному торрент-демону выделяется некая дисковая квота (допустим, 5 Гб) под зеркалирование. Изначально локально хранится один файл - метаинформация о пакетах (то, что содержится в заголовке rpm или deb + хэши от каждой части пакета), ессно, подписанная и регулярно обновляемая.

Пакетный менеджер не ломится на ftp и http, а спрашивает у местного демона torrent - есть такой пакет в кэше или нет? Если есть, то ставим пакет из локального зеркала, если нету - торрент-демон выкачивает его и кладет в локальное зеркало. Естественно, эти же пакеты становятся доступны для раздачи. При исчезновении пакета из списка в метаданных - тоже его удаляем. Мож

Итого получаем огромную систему зеркал, с балансировкой нагрузки, высоким резервированием и поддержкой дельта-пакетов.

Целостность и аутентичность пакетов подтверждается хэшами и цифровой подписью.

Что скажут лоровские аналитики?

Про rsync и drpmsync в курсе, но не в восторге.
