Куда делся intel_reg_write?

Друзья, почему из состава intel-gpu-tools исчезла утилита intel_reg_write после обновления с 14.04 до 16.04 и где искать альтернативу?
У моего ноута дисплей с ШИМ и без данного инструмента пользоваться встроенным дисплеем весьма дискомфортно. Каково же было моё недоумение, когда с обновлением своего «самого десктопного» до крайнего LTS-релиза я не обнаружил сего инструмента.

Вопросы по применению KVM на десктопе

Привет, лоровчане.
Экспериментирую с использованием на рабочих ноутах KVM'а вместо VirtualBox'а. В качестве хостов - Ubuntu 14.04 и Debian testing со свежими на данный момент qemu 2.5 и virt-manager 1.2, гости - вёнды XP.
Всё чудесно и пока устраивает, кроме двух вещей:

1. Сетевая конфигурация гостей. Хочу, чтобы в kvm'е была возможность подключать их мостом к «железным» интерфейсам wlan и eth, чтобы гость видел всех и все видели гостя в локалке. В виртуалбоксе есть возможность сделать такое в пару кликов через гуй. В virt-manager'е же выбирается только macvtap, который через wlan в упор не хочет работать, да к тому же не позволяет гостю с хостом видеть друг друга.
Есть ли в KVM возможность создать для виртуализованных машин бридж-подключение, не прибегая к конфигурированию интерфейсов через networking в /etc/network/interfaces ?

2. Графика в KVM'е (через spice) заметно дёрганная по сравнению с тем же VBox, нет ощущения localhost'а. Если, например, быстро потаскать любое окно, то хорошо видна задержка. QXL драйвер установлен и дело точно не в производительности самого железа.
Это поправимо? И если нет, то можно ли ожидать прогресса в будущем?

Видеодрайвер для Neomagic 128XD

Есть винтажный ноут IBM ThinkPad 600 с видеочипом Neomagic MagicGraph 128XD (NM2160) c Debian Jessie.
Понимаю, что от этого чипа не следует ждать 3D-ускорения, но на данный момент он работает вовсе как видеозамедлитель - любое анимирананное 2d рендерится с фризами, в doom fps ~1.
glxgears показывает около 6 fps, в Wheeze было максимум 1,5 fps, в то время как в Squeeze доходило хотя-бы до 17 (с software rasterizer).
При этом ни в одном дистре я так и не увидел задействованного драйвера neomagic.

Подозреваю у себя путаницу в понимании теории и прошу помощи разобраться что к чему, как активировать то, что зовётся xserver-xorg-video-neomagic'ом и нужно ли конфигурировать иксы с созданием xorg.conf?
PS: прошу прощения за грубое оформление, моментами не осилил. Как укоротить вывод шелла, загнав его в скролл?
