В послании от Марка (гл. 5, ст. 2—9) сказано, что когда высадился Иисус в стране Гадаринской, то встре- тился с человеком, одержимым демонами и «нечистым духом», и тот человек «имел жилище в гробах и ...всегда, ночью и днем, в горах и гробах кричал он и бился о камни». И когда человек поприветствовал Иисуса, тот заговорил с демоном, вселившимся в него: «Выйди, дух нечистый, из сего человека». И спросил его: «Как тебе имя?» И он сказал в ответ: «Легион имя мне, потому что нас много».
Legion, also known as the Gerasene Demon, is a demon found in the Christian Bible. The New Testament outlines an encounter where Jesus healed a man from Gadarenes possessed by demons while traveling.
In The Bible
The Gospel of Mark, 5:9, describes the following in the country of the Gadarenes:
And he (Jesus) asked him (the man), «What is thy name?» And he answered, saying, «My name is Legion: for we are many.»
The Gospel of Luke, Luke 8:30, describes the following in the country of the Gadarenes:
And Jesus asked him, saying, «What is thy name?» And he said, «Legion»: because many devils were entered into him.
The Gospel of Matthew, Matthew 8:28-34, has a unique version of the story:
And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
Поясните: Легион - это скорее имя собственное, или мера количества? А то и имя демона (одного), и мера одновременно... Особенно интересует сабжевая фраза с анонимусом, точнее ее толкование.
