Проблема с GeForce 8600GT

glxinfo |grep "direct rendering"

Мои телепатические способности подсказывают, что там будет "direct rendering: No".

Надо наверное смотреть в /var/log/Xorg.0.log и /var/log/errors.log

А 'дрова' установлены?

Не получается установить дрова. Запускаю NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.51-pkg1.run и Вижу следующие ошибки:

The compiler used to compile the kernel (gcc 4.1) does not exactly match the current compiler (gcc 4.3). The Linux 2.6 kernel module loader rejects kern el modules built with a version of gcc that does not exactly match that of t he compiler used to build the running kernel. если продолжить с gcc 4.3, то вылазит еще ошибка:

Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or 'kernel-devel' RPM installed. Подскажите пожалуйста, как быть?

Что-то я ничего не понял. У тебя же в конфиге Driver "nvidia". Он должен был выругаться и не запустить иксы, если бы драйвера не было.

А инсталятор тебе ясно написал, что не может найти исходники ядра, значит их у тебя нет, а драйвер уже поставился из репозитория.

На всякий случай поставь еще раз, как написано в http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers . Не пользуйся инсталятором с нвидевского сайта. Потом смотри логи.
