стоит слака 9. в один прекрасный момент при загрузке, говорит что не правильно указан графический режим и соответственно не грузится этот долбынный фраймбуффер (vesafb). потом когда рпускаю X, то система говорит что ненайден sсreen0 и писец

ты смеешься? или издеваешься? или все ещц в экстрасенсов веришь?
Мне лично, чтобы что-нибудь посоветовать, нужно:
1. /etc/X11/XF86Config*
2. /etc/lilo.conf или /boot/grub/grub.conf
3. /var/log/dmesg (если он целиком помещается в log-буфкр ядра), иначе /var/log/messages
4. /var/log/XFree86.0.log

файлы, теоретически, могут зависеть от дистрибутива и потом может понадобиться что-нибудь еще. Но, когда вопрос сразу ОЧЕВИДНО не содержит даже минимума необходимойй информации, на фига мне ее запрашивать? кому это все нужно?

не успел пока до конца разобраться, но ты уверен, что у тебя именно lilo? а не grub? там никакого упоминания о fb нет. Вообще считается хорошим тоном публиковать также сведения о дистрибутиве и железе (чтобы мне ту же GeForce2 MX 100 по журналам не разыскивать) И почему нет ошибок в XFree76.0.log? он там точно до конда? создается впечатление, что X запускается. ты уверен, что не путаешься при уже запущеном X запустить вторую копию с помощью startx?

самое главное, чего я НЕ вижу - это загрузки nvidia.o надо сделать lsmod | grep nvidia и проверить загружен ли модуль если нет, то modprobe nvidia и опять startx

P.S. если у тебя именно lilo и именно этот lilo.conf используется (что не факт, потому что grub читает conf в момент загрузки, а lilo использует то, что /sbin/lilo было прописано. а lilo.conf мог после этого измениться) - никакого кадрового буфера там не записано. поэтому и быть его не должно. и никакого упоминания о нем в журнале тоже нет

lilo 100% то, я его менял при перекомпиляции ядра. насчет nvidia.o то при загрузке X сначала идет мерцание, потом логотип Nvidea а после све слетает и уже после нескольких таких попыток идет сообщение"Screen0 not found"

startx >log 2>&1 и изучаем причину падения. "Screen0 not found" это следствие, ошибка (EE) должна быть выше написана

На этот варнинг можешь забить - ядра 2.4 ругаются на ядра без GPL-соместимой лицензии. Вопрос этот политический, модуль от этого работать не перестает.
