Не могу повернуть экран на Xfce4 Debian 8

xrandr --output default --rotate left

пишет

xrandr: output default cannot use rotation "left" reflection "none"

нашел решение - записать опцию в xorg.conf, не обнаружив такого на компьютере запускаю

X -configure

Xorg -configure

возвращает следующее:

Number of created screens does not match the number of created devices
