Kernel: woohoo we have 2.6.33 now – the latest & greatest.
X.Org: this went up to 7.5 (X server version is now 1.7.5) – you can’t get it newer than this.
There is no nouveau driver for now, but it should not be so hard to add this yourself because all its dependencies should be met by slackware-current.
KDE: has been updated to 4.3.5 – the latest “politically correct” version which is available… No PolicyKit for us yet.
The GTK ecosystem has been overhauled and slackware-current is now at gtk+2 version 2.18.7.
Because the upgrade of libpng was an incompatible change (I refrain from using bad language about this piece of software, but I invite you to examine the libpng.SlackBuild closely), every single package which depends on this library needed to be recompiled. D’ oh!
Lots of core packages were updated to their latest version as well – too many to write down here.

libpng.SlackBuild:
I'm ditching this to see if anyone cares.
This symlink is needed to keep old applications running:
I guess the real lib used the major number 3, then 0 for
a short while, and now .3 again. Hopefully it will stay
his way as it was .3 in Slackware 10.2. One can hope.
Well, glad I got rid of the above, but <someone> upstream still does not grok shared libraries on Linux it seems — libpng-1.4.0 caused all the newly compiled binaries to want libpng.so.14, and now libpng-1.4.1 wants to change that to libpng14.so.14. Searching online finds that we are not the only ones with binaries that want libpng.so.14, so we are forced to provide a compatibility symlink again... :-/
We'll try to remove this in 5 to 10 years, just like before.
