We are looking for talented and motivated Linux system experts that would become a part of team in St. Petersburg. Ideal candidate would have several years of experience in Linux administration, customization, deployment, support and sustaining.
Platform Software Engineering team create, deploy, support and sustain customized Linux distributions. Start from an off-the-shelf product, fine tune it, add custom kernel and user land components, strip off unused packages and features, apply patches, stress-test the platform and send it off to be deployed on thousands of nodes.
Required skills include: - Linux/UNIX administration, installation, configuration and troubleshooting (Linux-From-Scratch distributions (Gentoo-like), Linux kernel components development is a big plus) - Perl, bash and other scripting languages. - Some exposure to Java and/or C/C++.
Soft skills: - Team player. - Ability to multi-task. - Good communication skills – lot’s of work is done in collaboration with other teams and team members, often communicating via e-mail and Wiki-pages. - English language skills are very important. - Ready to work in a fast changing and demanding environment.
