Position description:

The Next Generation Software organization builds the new software platform product for Nokia devices. The product is based on Linux and other open source components combined with commercial and internally developed software components. To help us in this cutting edge work, we are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Helsinki, Finland. As part of our platform optimization and maturization function, you will work on our OMAP-based Linux product and help solve system-wide performance problems.

More specifically, you focus on kernel issues like the analysis of IRQ processing, lifelocks, deadlocks and hardware utilization. Your primary responsibility is to analyze problems within the kernel and propose short, middle and long-term solutions. In addition to these key challenges, you perform planning, reporting, design and reviewing. As an expert in your field, you also have the opportunity to coach your fellow team members and provide technical training.

Requirements:

A Masters or Doctorate degree in Computer Science provides the foundation for your success. This is further reinforced by at least six years of relevant experience, in which time you have become a recognized specialist in the field of embedded Linux systems (Maemo or Debian), kernel, ARM architectures and ARM assembler. It should also help your application stand out if you are confident conducting performance profiling and optimization using Oprofile, LTT or other Linux tools.
